enabling macros video transcript:
In this video we're going to cover how to enable macros. The template I'm using is the free Excel budget template. When I first opened this spreadsheet, I did not get a message for enable content or enable macros I came to the welcome tab and put my name. Once I click the macro button I get this message that says, "you cannot run the macro, it may not be available in the workbook or all macros may be disabled". So I'm going to show you what you do to enable macros. Click "OK", go to "File" and then to "Options". Click on "Trust Center", "Trust Center settings", "Macro settings" and the option you want is the second one, which is "Disable all macros, with notification". Some macros are not safe and so you don't want them just to automatically run on your computer. So, by selecting this option, you'll always get a warning to enable content or enable macros. And if you have a spreadsheet that you trust, then you know you can select that without a concern. So you hit "OK" and "close" the settings window. Let's close the spreadsheet and then open it again. So now, because I changed macro settings, I get this security warning, "macros have been disabled". Now you can click "Enable Content". Now when type your name and click the macro button, it says "do you want to modify this spreadsheet etc.", after you click "yes", the macro brings you to a "Save As" screen where you want to save it as a macro enabled workbook with whatever name you want. Now you can begin using the spreadsheet and all the macros. Thank you.
